About this site...when, how, why...? |

This site with its growing content started back years ago - spontaneously, like natural continuation of our attempt to share the fun and joy of music making with you! And just like our family business in its early days...we simply plunged into it...feeling comfortable...it was a coming-home decision. So we felt that the World Wide Web is great opportunity to "spread the word", present, suggest... but also assist, advise, connect and share. Over the years, we experimented, learned, searched... seeking your input and are ever-encouraged with daily-received feedback and wonderful report from many, many new site-visitors-become-customers, members...or just valuable contacts that are making one big PIANOTEAM.COM FAMILY that shares the same values of friendship, perseverance, trust, honesty, dedication, respect...to name a few. This site, just like our business, is more than a business - it is a family passion, our creation in which we invested (and continue to) a substantial effort and reflects our view that making music is about making friends, having a great time - making music makes life better, brighter and more fun. What make us so comfortable...? Perhaps the fact that we just enjoy music! Music bonds people together, music needs no translation and knows no borders...reaches across continents...and centuries...is timeless and special. And what we do is backed by the family Hrovat's family tradition in teaching, promoting the importance of music and active performing - for four generations. We are proud of our family heritage and tradition. |

What is the piano's role in all that...? |
|
While we appreciate and support ANY form of participation in music, we are convinced that the STUDY OF PIANO is an essential for developing solid musicianship - piano is considered to be the best First Instrument. The international scientific community and child development experts think the same: The unique concept of study involves a complex neuro-senso-motoric activity, building a skills that ONLY the study of music does. The description of the piano-learning process to be a "simultaneous multiple information processing, management and tasks execution" only in part describes the process that simply is - amazing! Learning how to play the piano is AMAZING PROCESS that is AMAZINGLY BENEFICIAL! |

In the study of PIANO the instrument itself is of tremendous importance. Not only that a good piano is needed, the piano MUST be kept in good tune and free of technical problems like sticky keys, slow action, pedal problems, buzzing sounds etc: The learning process especially in the first months and years is intricate enough that you don't want to see the student/child dealing with problems within the instrument itself. It is distractive and possibly leads to confusion and disappointment. |

Our advice: Don't start your child taking piano lessons until you have the appropriate piano available at home. The way the instrument feels and responds in the first months of study sends powerful messages that stay with kids. The proper feel of the keys and acoustic/dynamic sound properties (NO volume control!) are essential for any further development of skill, technique and expression! Digital piano? Better digital pianos with good ( fully-weighted and hammered) touch are acceptable but should not be considered as a first option. The final choice is, of course - Yours! |

How about a portable keyboard...? |
|

In simple terms - the use of an electronic keyboard is a passport to either confusion and a subsequent loss of interest or (at best) the unfortunate piano student that started on a keyboard simply does not develop the tone, the technique and expression. And that stays with the student, despite the later repertiore According to number of studies on the topic - the use of an electronic keyboard is No 1 on the list of factors related to the high drop-off (from piano classes) rate in North America. Luckily, in Europe and Asia, for the most part, students are NOT even starting the piano classes without having an access to practice on an adequate piano. It makes sense! Here, sadly, business/profit changes everything - in some cases cheap keyboard is given ( what a "present") to newly enrolled students! Please think twice before wasting your time, money and effort! |
